Shuklam Baradaram Vishnum, Sasi Varnam Chatur Bhujam, Prasanna Vadanan Dyayet, Sarva Vignoba Sandaye.
ఓం శుక్లాంబరధరం విష్ణుం శశివర్ణం చతుర్భుజం । ప్రసన్నవదనం ధ్యాయేత్ సర్వవిఘ్నోపశాంతయే ॥ 1 ॥
Dressed in white you are, Oh, all pervading one, And glowing with the color of the moon. With four arms, you are, the all-knowing one, I meditate on your ever-smiling face, And pray,” Remove all obstacles on my way”.
శ్వేత వర్ణము గల వస్త్రములు ధరించినవాడా, సర్వాంతర్యామి, చంద్రుని వర్ణము గలవాడా, చతుర్ భుజములతో సర్వము తెలిసినవాడా, నేను మందహాసముతో నున్న ముఖము గల నిన్ను పూజిస్తున్నాను. నా మార్గములోని విఘ్నములు తొలగించు.
యస్యద్విరదవక్త్రాద్యాః పారిషద్యాః పరః శతం । విఘ్నం నిఘ్నంతి సతతం విష్వక్సేనం తమాశ్రయే ॥ 2 ॥
Vyasam Vasishtanaptharam, Sakthe Poutramakalmasham, Parasarathmajam vande, Shukathatham Taponidhim.
I bow before you Vyasa, The treasure house of penance, The great-grandson of Vasishta, The grandson of Shakthi, The son of Parasara, And the father of Shuka.
పూర్వ పీఠికా
వ్యాసం వసిష్ఠ నప్తారం శక్తేః పౌత్రమకల్మషం । పరాశరాత్మజం వందే శుకతాతం తపోనిధిం ॥ 3 ॥

వ్యాసాయ విష్ణు రూపాయ వ్యాసరూపాయ విష్ణవే । నమో వై బ్రహ్మనిధయే వాసిష్ఠాయ నమో నమః ॥ 4 ॥
వ్యాసుడే విష్ణువు, విష్ణువే వ్యాసుడు. వసిష్ఠుని వంశములో జన్మించిన వానికి మరల మరల నమస్కారము చేయుచున్నాను

Bow I before Vishnu Who is pure, Who is not affected, Who is permanent, Who is the ultimate truth. And He who wins over, All the mortals in this world.
అవికారాయ శుద్ధాయ నిత్యాయ పరమాత్మనే । సదైక రూప రూపాయ విష్ణవే సర్వజిష్ణవే ॥ 5 ॥
శుద్ధమైన, నిత్యమైన, సత్, అందరి జీవుల హృదయాలను ఆకట్టుకున్నవాడైన విష్ణువుకి నమస్కారము చేయుచున్నాను

యస్య స్మరణమాత్రేణ జన్మసంసారబంధనాత్ । విముచ్యతే నమస్తస్మై విష్ణవే ప్రభవిష్ణవే ॥ 6 ॥
ఓం నమో విష్ణవే ప్రభవిష్ణవే ।
అతని స్మరణము చేస్తే సంసార బంధములు తొలగును. అట్టి గొప్ప శక్తిమంతుడైన మహావిష్ణువుకి పదే పదే నమస్కారాము చేయుచున్నాను
Shri Vaisampayana Uvacha:- Shrutva dharmaneshena, Pavanani cha Sarvasha, Yudishtra santhanavam Puneravabhya Bhashata
Sri Vaisampayana said:- After hearing a lot, About Dharma that carries life, And of those methods great, That removes sins from one’s life, Forever and to cleanse, Yudhishtra asked again, Bheeshma, the abode of everlasting peace.
శ్రీ వైశంపాయన ఉవాచ
శ్రుత్వా ధర్మా నశేషేణ పావనాని చ సర్వశః । యుధిష్ఠిరః శాంతనవం పునరేవాభ్య భాషత ॥ 7 ॥
జీవితాన్ని నడిపించే ధర్మము గురించి విని, గొప్ప సాధనాల గూర్చి తెలుసుకొని, పాపముల ప్రక్షాళనము చేసే, తత్త్వమును గూర్చి యుధిష్టరుడు భీష్ముని ఆడిగెను
Yudishtra Uvacha:-
Kimekam Daivatham Loke, Kim Vapyegam Parayanam, Sthuvantha Kam Kamarchanda Prapnyur Manava Shubham, Ko Dharma sarva Dharmanam Paramo Matha Kim Japan Muchyathe Jandur Janma Samsara Bhandanat
Yudhishthira asked: In this wide world, Oh Grandpa, Which is that one God, Who is the only shelter? Who is He whom, Beings worship and pray, And get salvation? Who is He who should oft, Be worshipped with love? Which Dharma is so great, There is none greater? And which is to be oft chanted, To get free from these bondages of life?
యుధిష్ఠిర ఉవాచ
కిమేకం దైవతం లోకే కిం వాఽప్యేకం పరాయణం స్తువంతః కం కమర్చంతః ప్రాప్నుయుర్మానవాః శుభం ॥ 8 ॥ కో ధర్మః సర్వధర్మాణాం భవతః పరమో మతః । కిం జపన్ముచ్యతే జంతుర్జన్మసంసార బంధనాత్ ॥ 9 ॥
ఓ తాతా!ఇంత విశాలమైన ప్రపంచమునకు, ఎవరు అందరికీ ఆశ్రయమయమైన దేవుడు? ఎవరిని పూజించడము వలన మోక్షము కలుగుచున్నది? ఎవరిని పదే పదే ప్రేమతో అర్చించ వలెను? ఎట్టి ధర్మము అన్ని ధర్మాలలో ఉత్కృష్టమైనది? సంసార బంధములు తొలగాలంటే దేనిని స్మరించవలెను?

Jagat Prabhum devadevam Anantham Purushottamam, Stuvan nama Sahasrena, Purusha Sathathothida, Tameva charchayan nityam, Bhaktya purushamavyayam, Dhyayan sthuvan namasyancha yajamanasthameva cha, Anadi nidhanam vishnum sarva loka Maheswaram Lokadyaksham stuvannityam Sarva dukkhago bhaved, Brahmanyam sarva dharmagnam Lokanam keerthi vardhanam, Lokanatham Mahadbhootham Sarva Bhootha bhavodbhavam, Aeshame sarva dharmanam dharmadhika tamo matha, Yad bhaktyo pundarikaksham Stuvyr-archanayr-nara sada, Paramam yo mahatteja, paramam yo mahattapa Paramam yo mahad brahma paramam ya parayanam Pavithranam Pavithram yo mangalanam cha mangalam, Dhaivatham devathanam cha bhootanam yo vya pitha Yatha sarvani bhoothani bhavandyathi yugagame Yasmincha pralayam yanthi punareve yuga kshaye Tasya Loka pradhanasya Jagannatathasya bhoopathe Vishno nama sahasram me Srunu papa bhayapaham.
Bheeshma Replied:- That Purusha with endless devotion, Who chants a thousand names, Of He who is the lord of the Universe, Of He who is the God of gods, Of He who is limitless, Would get free, From these bondages of life.
ఎవరైతే విశ్వ పాలకుడు, దేవతలకు దేవుడు, అవధులు లేనివాడు, సంసార బంధములు తొలగించేవాడు అయిన విష్ణువుని సహస్రనామాలుతో స్మరిస్తాడో
He who also worships and prays, Daily without break, That Purusha who does not change, That Vishnu who does not end or begin, That God who is the lord of all worlds, And Him, who presides over the universe, Would loose without fail, All the miseries in this life.
ఎవరైతే ప్రతిదినము విష్ణువుని పూజిస్తాడో, స్మరిస్తాడో; మార్పు చెందని వానిని అర్చిస్తాడో, ఆద్యంతము లేనివానిని, అన్ని లోకాల పాలకుడను, విశ్వమునకు అధ్యక్షుడుని పూజిస్తాడో, అట్టివానికి సంసార బంధములు తొలగేవి
Chanting the praises, Worshipping and singing, With devotion great, Of the lotus-eyed one, Who is partial to the Vedas, Who is the only one, who knows the dharma, Who increases the fame, Of those who live in this world, Who is the master of the universe, Who is the truth among all those who have life, And who decides the life of all living, Is the dharma that is great.
కమలాక్షుని; వేదములను అభిలషించేవాడిని; తనకు సాటి లేనివాడను; ధర్మమును తెలిసినవాడిని; పేరు ప్రఖ్యాతులను వృద్ధి చేసేవాడు, లోకానికి పాలకుడు, సత్ స్వరూపము, మిక్కిలి ఆశ్రయుడయిన వానిని ఎవరైతే స్మరిస్తారో వారు కొప్ప ధర్మపరులు
That which is the greatest light, That which is the greatest penance, That which is the greatest brahmam, Is the greatest shelter that I know.
నాకు తెలిసి గొప్ప ప్రకాశము, గొప్ప తపస్సు, గొప్పవాడైన బ్రహ్మన్ మనకు ఆశ్రయము
Please hear from me, The thousand holy names, Which wash away all sins, Of Him who is purest of the pure, Of That which is holiest of holies, Of Him who is God among Gods, Of That father who lives Without death, Among all that lives in this world, Of Him whom all the souls, Were born at the start of the world, Of Him in whom, all that lives, Will disappear at the end of the world, And of that the chief of all this world, Who bears the burden of this world.
నేను చెప్పే సహస్రనామములను విను. అవి అన్ని పాపాలను ప్రక్షాణలము చేసేవి. అతడు శుద్ధమైన వారలలో శుద్ధమైన వాడు, పవిత్రమైన వారలలో పవిత్రుడు, దేవతలకు దేవుడు, జీవులకు తండ్రి అయి మరణము లేనివాడు, సర్వ జగత్తు మోసేవాడు, ఆత్మలను సృష్టి ఆదిలో జీవులుగా పుట్టించేవాడు, కల్పంలో జీవులను మాయము చేసేవాడు, విశ్వానికి అధిపతియైన వాడు, ప్రపంచ భారమును మోసేవాడు.
I would teach you without fail, Of those names with fame. Which deal of His qualities great, And which the sages sing, So that beings of this wide world, Become happy and great.
నేను ఆ ప్రసిద్ధమైన సహస్రనామములు చెప్పెదను. అవి ఎవడు సద్గుణములు గలవాడో, ఋషులచే కీర్తింప బడేవాడో, జీవులకు ఆహ్లాదము కలిగించేవాడో అతనిని ఉద్ఘటించేవి.
శ్రీ భీష్మ ఉవాచ
జగత్ప్రభుం దేవదేవ మనంతం పురుషోత్తమం । స్తువన్నామ సహస్రేణ పురుషః సతతోత్థితః ॥ 10 ॥ తమేవ చార్చయన్నిత్యం భక్త్యా పురుషమవ్యయం । ధ్యాయన్ స్తువన్నమస్యంశ్చ యజమానస్తమేవ చ ॥ 11 ॥ అనాది నిధనం విష్ణుం సర్వలోక మహేశ్వరం । లోకాధ్యక్షం స్తువన్నిత్యం సర్వ దుఃఖాతిగో భవేత్ ॥ 12 ॥ బ్రహ్మణ్యం సర్వ ధర్మజ్ఞం లోకానాం కీర్తి వర్ధనం । లోకనాథం మహద్భూతం సర్వభూత భవోద్భవం॥ 13 ॥ ఏష మే సర్వ ధర్మాణాం ధర్మోఽధిక తమోమతః । యద్భక్త్యా పుండరీకాక్షం స్తవైరర్చేన్నరః సదా ॥ 14 ॥ పరమం యో మహత్తేజః పరమం యో మహత్తపః । పరమం యో మహద్బ్రహ్మ పరమం యః పరాయణం । 15 ॥ పవిత్రాణాం పవిత్రం యో మంగళానాం చ మంగళం । దైవతం దేవతానాం చ భూతానాం యోఽవ్యయః పితా ॥ 16 ॥ యతః సర్వాణి భూతాని భవంత్యాది యుగాగమే । యస్మింశ్చ ప్రలయం యాంతి పునరేవ యుగక్షయే ॥ 17 ॥ తస్య లోక ప్రధానస్య జగన్నాథస్య భూపతే । విష్ణోర్నామ సహస్రం మే శ్రుణు పాప భయాపహం ॥ 18 ॥ యాని నామాని గౌణాని విఖ్యాతాని మహాత్మనః । ఋషిభిః పరిగీతాని తాని వక్ష్యామి భూతయే ॥ 19 ॥

These thousand names Yudishtra Are Sung for peace, And has Vyasa as the sage, And is composed in Anusthup meter, And has its God the son of Devaki, And its root is Amrutamsudbhava And its strength the baby of Devaki, And its heart is Trissama
ఈ సహస్రనామములు శాంతికై జపించేవి. వాటికి వ్యాసుడు ఋషి; అవి అనుష్టుప్ ఛ౦దస్సులో చెప్పబడేవి; వాటిలోని దేవుడు దేవకీ పుత్రుడు; వాటి మూలము అమృతం సుద్భవ ; అవి దేవకీ పుత్రుని గూర్చి చెప్పబడినవి; వాటి హృదయము త్రిస్సమ
Bow I before Him, Who is everywhere, Who is ever victorious, Who is in every being, Who is God of Gods, Who is the killer of asuras, And who is the greatest, Among all purushas.
అతడు సర్వాంతర్యామి; విజయుడు; అన్ని జీవులలో ఉండేవాడు; దేవతలకు దేవుడు; అసురులను సంహరించేవాడు; మిక్కిలి శ్రేష్ఠుడు. అట్టి వానికి నమస్కారం చేస్తున్నాను
ఋషిర్నామ్నాం సహస్రస్య వేదవ్యాసో మహామునిః ॥ ఛందోఽనుష్టుప్ తథా దేవో భగవాన్ దేవకీసుతః ॥ 20 ॥ అమృతాం శూద్భవో బీజం శక్తిర్దేవకినందనః । త్రిసామా హృదయం తస్య శాంత్యర్థే వినియుజ్యతే ॥ 21 ॥ విష్ణుం జిష్ణుం మహావిష్ణుం ప్రభవిష్ణుం మహేశ్వరం ॥ అనేకరూప దైత్యాంతం నమామి పురుషోత్తమం ॥ 22 ॥
DHYANAM
Ksheerodanvath pradese suchimani vilasad saikathe Maukthikanam Malaklupthasanastha Spatikamani nibhai maukthiker mandithanga Shubrai-rabrai-rathabrai ruparivirachitai muktha peeyusha varshai Anandi na puniyadari nalina Gadha sankapanir Mukunda
Let that Mukunda makes us all holy, Who wears all over his body Pearls made of spatika, Who sits on the throne of a garland of pearls, Located in the sand of precious stones, By the side of the sea of milk, Who gets happy of the white cloud, Sprayed of drops of nectar, And who has the mace, the wheel and the lotus in His hands.

Bhoo padau yasya nabhi r viyadasu ranila schandra suryaau cha nether Karnavasasiro dhaumugamabhi dhahano yasya vasteyamabhdhi Anthastham yasya viswam sura nara khaga go bhogi gandharva dhaityai, Chitram ram ramyathe tham thribhuvana vapusham vishnumeesam namami.
I bow before that God, Vishnu Who is the lord of three worlds, Who has earth as his feet, Who has air as his soul, Who has the sky as his belly, Who has moon and sun as eyes, Who has the four directions as ears, Who has the land of gods as head, Who has fire as his mouth, Who has the sea as his stomach, And in whose belly play and enjoy, Gods, men birds, animals, Serpent men, Gandharvas, and Asuras.

I bow before the God Vishnu, Who is the personification of peace, Who sleeps on his folded arms, Who has a lotus on his belly, Who is the God of gods, Who is the basis of earth, Who is similar to the sky, Who is of the color of the cloud, Who has beautiful limbs, Who is the consort of Lakshmi, Who has lotus like eyes, Who is seen by saints through thought, Who kills all worries and fears, And who is the lord of all the worlds.

క్షీరోధన్వత్ప్రదేశే శుచిమణివిలసత్సైకతేమౌక్తికానాం మాలాక్లుప్తాసనస్థః స్ఫటికమణినిభైర్మౌక్తికైర్మండితాంగః । శుభ్రైరభ్రైరదభ్రైరుపరివిరచితైర్ముక్తపీయూష వర్షైః ఆనందీ నః పునీయాదరినలినగదా శంఖపాణిర్ముకుందః ॥ 1 ॥ భూః పాదౌ యస్య నాభిర్వియదసురనిలశ్చంద్ర సూర్యౌ చ నేత్రే కర్ణావాశాః శిరోద్యౌర్ముఖమపి దహనో యస్య వాస్తేయమబ్ధిః । అంతఃస్థం యస్య విశ్వం సుర నరఖగగోభోగిగంధర్వదైత్యైః చిత్రం రం రమ్యతే తం త్రిభువన వపుశం విష్ణుమీశం నమామి ॥ 2 ॥

శాంతాకారం భుజగశయనం పద్మనాభం సురేశం విశ్వాధారం గగనసదృశం మేఘవర్ణం శుభాంగం । లక్ష్మీకాంతం కమలనయనం యోగిహృర్ధ్యానగమ్యం వందే విష్ణుం భవభయహరం సర్వలోకైకనాథం ॥ 3 ॥
Megha syamam Peetha kouseys vasam Srivatsangam Kausthuboth bhasithangam
Punyopetham pundareekayathaksham Vishnum vande sarva lokaika natham.
I bow before that God Vishnu, Who is the lord of all the universe, Who is black like a cloud, Who wears yellow silks, Who has the sreevatsa on him, Whose limbs shine because of Kousthubha, Who has eyes like an open lotus, And who is surrounded by the blessed always.
మేఘశ్యామం పీతకౌశేయవాసం శ్రీవత్సాకం కౌస్తుభోద్భాసితాంగం । పుణ్యోపేతం పుండరీకాయతాక్షం విష్ణుం వందే సర్వలోకైకనాథం ॥ 4 ॥
నమః సమస్త భూతానాం ఆది భూతాయ భూభృతే । అనేకరూప రూపాయ విష్ణవే ప్రభవిష్ణవే ॥ 5॥
పంచపూజ లం – పృథివ్యాత్మనే గంథం సమర్పయామి హం – ఆకాశాత్మనే పుష్పైః పూజయామి యం – వాయ్వాత్మనే ధూపమాఘ్రాపయామి రం – అగ్న్యాత్మనే దీపం దర్శయామి వం – అమృతాత్మనే నైవేద్యం నివేదయామి సం – సర్వాత్మనే సర్వోపచార పూజా నమస్కారాన్ సమర్పయామి. శ్రీ విష్ణు సహస్రనామ స్తోత్రం

Sahara vaksha sthala shobhi kousthubham namai Vishnum sirasa chaturbhujam.
I bow before the God Vishnu, Who has four arms, Who has a conch and wheel in his hands, Who wears a crown and ear globes, Who wears yellow silks, Who has lotus-like eyes, Who shines because of Kousthbha, Worn in his garlanded chest.
Chayayam Parijatasys hemasimhasanopari, Aseenamam budha syama Mayathakashamalangrutham, Chandranana chathurbahum sreevatsangitha vakshasam, Rukmani Satyabhamabhyam Sahitham Krishnamasraye.
I seek refuge in Lord Krishna, Who is with Rukhmani and Satyabhama, Who sits on a golden throne, In the shade of Parijata tree, Who is of the color of the black cloud, Who has long broad eyes, Who has a face like a moon, Who has four hands, And who has a chest adorned by Sreevatsa.

సశంఖచక్రం సకిరీటకుండలం సపీతవస్త్రం సరసీరుహేక్షణం । సహార వక్షఃస్థల శోభి కౌస్తుభం నమామి విష్ణుం శిరసా చతుర్భుజం । 6॥ ఛాయాయాం పారిజాతస్య హేమసింహాసనోపరి ఆసీనమంబుదశ్యామమాయతాక్షమలంకృతం ॥ 7 ॥ చంద్రాననం చతుర్బాహుం శ్రీవత్సాంకిత వక్షసం రుక్మిణీ సత్యభామాభ్యాం సహితం కృష్ణమాశ్రయే ॥ 8 ॥

అస్య శ్రీ విష్ణోర్దివ్య సహస్రనామ స్తోత్ర మహామంత్రస్య ॥ శ్రీ వేదవ్యాసో భగవాన్ ఋషిః । అనుష్టుప్ ఛందః । శ్రీమహావిష్ణుః పరమాత్మా శ్రీమన్నారాయణో దేవతా । అమృతాంశూద్భవో భానురితి బీజం । దేవకీనందనః స్రష్టేతి శక్తిః । ఉద్భవః, క్షోభణో దేవ ఇతి పరమోమంత్రః । శంఖభృన్నందకీ చక్రీతి కీలకం । శారంగధన్వా గదాధర ఇత్యస్త్రం । రథాంగపాణి రక్షోభ్య ఇతి నేత్రం । త్రిసామాసామగః సామేతి కవచం । ఆనందం పరబ్రహ్మేతి యోనిః । ఋతుస్సుదర్శనః కాల ఇతి దిగ్బంధః ॥ శ్రీవిశ్వరూప ఇతి ధ్యానం । శ్రీ మహావిష్ణు ప్రీత్యర్థే సహస్రనామ జపే పారాయణే వినియోగః ।

విశ్వం విష్ణుర్వషట్కార ఇత్యంగుష్ఠాభ్యాం నమః అమృతాం శూద్భవో భానురితి తర్జనీభ్యాం నమః బ్రహ్మణ్యో బ్రహ్మకృత్ బ్రహ్మేతి మధ్యమాభ్యాం నమః సువర్ణబిందు రక్షోభ్య ఇతి అనామికాభ్యాం నమః నిమిషోఽనిమిషః స్రగ్వీతి కనిష్ఠికాభ్యాం నమః రథాంగపాణి రక్షోభ్య ఇతి కరతల కరపృష్ఠాభ్యాం నమః
అంగన్యాసః
సువ్రతః సుముఖః సూక్ష్మ ఇతి జ్ఞానాయ హృదయాయ నమః సహస్రమూర్తిః విశ్వాత్మా ఇతి ఐశ్వర్యాయ శిరసే స్వాహా సహస్రార్చిః సప్తజిహ్వ ఇతి శక్త్యై శిఖాయై వషట్ త్రిసామా సామగస్సామేతి బలాయ కవచాయ హుం రథాంగపాణి రక్షోభ్య ఇతి నేత్రాభ్యాం వౌషట్ శాంగధన్వా గదాధర ఇతి వీర్యాయ అస్త్రాయఫట్ ఋతుః సుదర్శనః కాల ఇతి దిగ్భంధః
