ఉత్తర పీఠిక ఫలశ్రుతిః

ఇతీదం కీర్తనీయస్య కేశవస్య మహాత్మనః । నామ్నాం సహస్రం దివ్యానామశేషేణ ప్రకీర్తితం। ॥ 1 ॥

Bhishma said:

Thus was told, all the holy thousand names of Kesava, who is great.

భీష్మ ఉవాచ

ఈ విధముగా కేశవుని సహస్ర నామములు చెప్పబడినవి

య ఇదం శృణుయాన్నిత్యం యశ్చాపి పరికీర్తయేత్॥ నాశుభం ప్రాప్నుయాత్ కించిత్సోఽముత్రేహ చ మానవః ॥ 2 ॥

He who hears this daily and whoever recites it shall not attain to any evil, he shall be protected in this world and in the next.

ఈ నామాలను నిత్యము చదివిన వానికి శుభములు కలుగును; అతడు ఈ లోకమునందు, రాబోవు లోకములయందు సంరక్షింప బడతాడు

వేదాంతగో బ్రాహ్మణః స్యాత్ క్షత్రియో విజయీ భవేత్ । వైశ్యో ధనసమృద్ధః స్యాత్ శూద్రః సుఖమవాప్నుయాత్ ॥ 3 ॥

The Brahmin will get knowledge, the Kshatriya will get victory, the Vaisya will get wealth, the Shudra will get pleasures by reading these.

బ్రాహ్మణులకు జ్ఞానము, క్షత్రియులకు జయము, వైశ్యులకు ధనము, శూద్రులకు సంతోషము కల్గును

ధర్మార్థీ ప్రాప్నుయాద్ధర్మమర్థార్థీ చార్థమాప్నుయాత్ । కామానవాప్నుయాత్ కామీ ప్రజార్థీ ప్రాప్నుయాత్ప్రజాం। ॥ 4 ॥

He who seeks righteousness obtains righteousness, and he who seeks wealth obtains wealth; he who seeks progeny obtains his desires.

ధర్మమును కోరువానికి ధర్మ ఫలము, ధనమును కోరువానికి సంపద, సంతతి యొక్క వృద్ధిని వారికి కోరికలు తీరును

భక్తిమాన్ యః సదోత్థాయ శుచిస్తద్గతమానసః । సహస్రం వాసుదేవస్య నామ్నామేతత్ ప్రకీర్తయేత్ ॥ 5 ॥

Whichever devoted man, getting up early in the morning and purifying himself, repeats this hymn devoted to Vasudeva, with a mind that is concentrated on Him...

ఎవరైతే ప్రాతః కాలమున నిద్రలేచి, కాలకృత్యములు చేసి, వాసుదేవుని సహస్రనామాలతో పూర్తి శ్రద్ధతో పఠించిన

యశః ప్రాప్నోతి విపులం యాతిప్రాధాన్యమేవ చ । అచలాం శ్రియమాప్నోతి శ్రేయః ప్రాప్నోత్యనుత్తమం। ॥ 6 ॥

That man attains to great fame, leadership among his peers, wealth that is secure and the supreme good unsupassed by anything...

అతనికి పేరు ప్రఖ్యాతులు, అధికారము, స్థిరమైన సంపద, శుభములు కల్గును

న భయం క్వచిదాప్నోతి వీర్యం తేజశ్చ విందతి । భవత్యరోగో ద్యుతిమాన్ బలరూప గుణాన్వితః ॥ 7 ॥

He will be free from all fears and be endowed with great courage and energy and he will be free from diseases.

అతడు భీతి లేక, ధైర్యము, శక్తి గల్గి, సంపూర్ణ ఆరోగ్యముతో నుంటాడు

రోగార్తో ముచ్యతే రోగాద్బద్ధో ముచ్యేత బంధనాత్ । భయాన్ముచ్యేత భీతస్తు ముచ్యేతాపన్న ఆపదః ॥ 8 ॥

Beauty of form, strength of body and mind, and virtuous character will be natural to him.

అతడు సౌందర్యము, మనోదేహాలకు శక్తి, మంచి నడవడిక కలిగి యుంటాడు

దుర్గాణ్యతితరత్యాశు పురుషః పురుషోత్తమం । స్తువన్నామసహస్రేణ నిత్యం భక్తిసమన్వితః ॥ 9 ॥

A man quickly crosses over difficulties by praising the Supreme Person with a thousand names, ever accompanied by devotion.

ఎవరైతే సహస్రనామాలు భక్తితో పఠిస్తారో వారు కష్టములను శీఘ్రముగా దాటుతారు

వాసుదేవాశ్రయో మర్త్యో వాసుదేవపరాయణః । సర్వపాపవిశుద్ధాత్మా యాతి బ్రహ్మ సనాతనం। ॥ 10 ॥

A mortal who takes refuge in Vāsudeva and is devoted to Vāsudeva, purified of all sins, attains to the eternal Brahman.

ఎవరైతే వాసుదేవుని భక్తితో పూజిస్తారో, వాసుదేవుని పరమావధిగా కొలుస్తారో వారి సర్వ పాపములు తొలగి బ్రహ్మన్ ని పొందుతారు

న వాసుదేవ భక్తానామశుభం విద్యతే క్వచిత్ । జన్మమృత్యుజరావ్యాధిభయం నైవోపజాయతే ॥ 11 ॥

There is nothing inauspicious for the devotees of Vāsudeva. They are not afraid of birth, death, old age or disease.

వాసుదేవుని భక్తులకు అశుభములు కలగవు. వారు జరామరణములు, పునర్జన్మము, వ్యాధులుచే భీతి నొందరు

ఇమం స్తవమధీయానః శ్రద్ధాభక్తిసమన్వితః । యుజ్యేతాత్మ సుఖక్షాంతి శ్రీధృతి స్మృతి కీర్తిభిః ॥ 12 ॥

One who studies this hymn with faith and devotion will be endowed with happiness, forbearance, prosperity, patience, memory and fame.

ఎవరైతే నిత్యము భక్తితో చదువుతారో వారికి సంతోషము, సంపద, సహనము, జ్ఞాపక శక్తి, పేరు ప్రఖ్యాతులు కలుగుతాయి.

న క్రోధో న చ మాత్సర్యం న లోభో నాశుభామతిః । భవంతి కృతపుణ్యానాం భక్తానాం పురుషోత్తమే ॥ 13 ॥

The devotee of the Lord Purushottama, has neither anger nor fear, nor avarice and nor bad thoughts.

పురుషోత్తమును భక్తునికి క్రోధము, భయము, లోభము, దుష్ట ఆలోచనలు నుండవు

ద్యౌః సచంద్రార్కనక్షత్రా ఖం దిశో భూర్మహోదధిః । వాసుదేవస్య వీర్యేణ విధృతాని మహాత్మనః ॥ 14 ॥

The heavens, the moon, the sun, the stars, the sky, the directions, the earth and the ocean are sustained by the might of the great soul Vasudeva.

ఊర్ధ్వ లోకములు, చంద్రుడు, సూర్యుడు, నక్షత్రములు, ఆకాశము, దిక్కులు, భూమి, సాగరములు, పరమాత్ముడైన వాసుదేవుని శక్తి వలన ఆవిర్భవించినవి

ససురాసురగంధర్వం సయక్షోరగరాక్షసం । జగద్వశే వర్తతేదం కృష్ణస్య స చరాచరం। ॥ 15 ॥

All this world, that which moves and moves not, and which has Devas, Rakshasas and Gandharwas, and also Asuras and Nagas, are under the control of Lord Krishna.

మార్పు చెందని, మార్పు చెందే జగత్తు; దేవతులు, రాక్షసులు, గంధర్వులు, అసురులు, నాగులు శ్రీ కృష్ణునిచే నియంత్రింపబడేవి

ఇంద్రియాణి మనోబుద్ధిః సత్త్వం తేజో బలం ధృతిః । వాసుదేవాత్మకాన్యాహుః, క్షేత్రం క్షేత్రజ్ఞ ఏవ చ ॥ 16 ॥

The senses, mind, intellect, Sattva, splendour, strength and patience are said to be composed of Vasudeva, the field and the knower of the field.

ఇంద్రియాలు, మనస్సు, బుద్ధి, సత్త్వ గుణము, తేజస్సు, బలము, సహనము అనే గుణములు, క్షేత్రము, క్షేత్రజ్ఞుడు ఆ వాసుదేవుడే

సర్వాగమానామాచారః ప్రథమం పరికల్పతే । ఆచారప్రభవో ధర్మో ధర్మస్య ప్రభురచ్యుతః ॥ 17 ॥

The conduct of all the Vedas is first conceived as the origin of conduct, the Dharma, the Lord of Dharma, the infallible.

వేదములో చెప్పిన ఆచరణ ప్రప్రధమము; ధర్మము, ధర్మమును నిలబెట్టే అధిపతి, అపజయము నొందనివాడు

ఋషయః పితరో దేవా మహాభూతాని ధాతవః । జంగమాజంగమం చేదం జగన్నారాయణోద్భవం ॥ 18 ॥

The sages, the forefathers, the gods, the great beings, the metals, the movable and the immovable, this universe is born of Narayana.

ఋషులు, పితృదేవతలు, దేవతలు, గొప్పవారు, లోహములు, స్తావర జంగములు, సృష్టి నారాయణు నుండి ఆవిర్భవించినవి

యోగోజ్ఞానం తథా సాంఖ్యం విద్యాః శిల్పాదికర్మ చ । వేదాః శాస్త్రాణి విజ్ఞానమేతత్సర్వం జనార్దనాత్ ॥ 19 ॥

Yoga, knowledge and also Sāṅkhya, the sciences, crafts and other actions, the Vedas, the scriptures and knowledge, all this comes from Janardana.

యోగ, సాంఖ్య, శాస్త్రములు, కౌశల్యము, వేదాలు, స్మృతులు, శృతులు, జ్ఞానము జనార్ధను వలన ఆవిర్భవించినవి

ఏకో విష్ణుర్మహద్భూతం పృథగ్భూతాన్యనేకశః । త్రీంలోకాన్వ్యాప్య భూతాత్మా భుంక్తే విశ్వభుగవ్యయః ॥ 20 ॥

Vishnu alone, the Great Being, pervading the three worlds with many separate beings, the Soul of beings, enjoys the expanse of the Enjoyer of the universe.

విష్ణువు ఒక్కడే గొప్పవాడు, ముల్లోకములలో అనేక జీవుల రూపమును దాల్చిన వాడు; జీవులలో ఆత్మ; సృష్టిని అభిలషించేవాడు

ఇమం స్తవం భగవతో విష్ణోర్వ్యాసేన కీర్తితం । పఠేద్య ఇచ్చేత్పురుషః శ్రేయః ప్రాప్తుం సుఖాని చ ॥ 21 ॥

Any man who desires to attain prosperity and happiness should recite this hymn of Lord Vishnu recited by Vyasa.

ఎవరైతే సంపద, సంతోషములను కోరుతారో, వారు వ్యాస మహర్షి చెప్పిన విష్ణు సహస్ర నామములు స్మరించవలెను

విశ్వేశ్వరమజం దేవం జగతః ప్రభుమవ్యయం। భజంతి యే పుష్కరాక్షం న తే యాంతి పరాభవం ॥ 22 ॥

Those who worship the lotus-eyed Lord of the universe, the unborn God, the Lord of the universe, the inexhaustible, do not get defeated.

ఎవరైతే పద్మము వంటి నేత్రములు గల, ప్రపంచమునకు అధిపతియైన, జన్మించని వాడైన, క్షయము లేనివాడైన విష్ణుమూర్తిని పూజిస్తారో వారికి పరాజయము కలుగదు

న తే యాంతి పరాభవం ఓం నమ ఇతి ।

అర్జున ఉవాచ

పద్మపత్ర విశాలాక్ష పద్మనాభ సురోత్తమ । భక్తానా మనురక్తానాం త్రాతా భవ జనార్దన ॥ 23 ॥

Om Namah Arjuna said — O lotus-petalled, large-eyed, lotus-naveled, best of the gods, be the savior of the devotees who are devoted to you, O Janardana.

పద్మమువలె కన్నులున్నవాడా, పద్మము నాభిలో గలవాడా, దేవతలలో ఉత్తమమైనవాడా, నీ భక్తులను రక్షింపుము జగన్నాథా

శ్రీభగవానువాచ

యో మాం నామసహస్రేణ స్తోతుమిచ్ఛతి పాండవ । సోఽహమేకేన శ్లోకేన స్తుత ఏవ న సంశయః ॥ 24 ॥ స్తుత ఏవ న సంశయ ఓం నమ ఇతి ।

The Lord said:

He who likes, Oh Arjuna, to sing my praise, using these thousand names, should know Arjuna, that I would be satisfied By his singing of even one stanza, without any doubt. Om Nama, without any doubt.

ఎవరైతే నన్ను కీర్తిస్తారో, సహస్రనామాలు స్మరిస్తారో వారు ఒక్క శ్లోకము నమ్మకముతో చదివినా నేను వారి వలన సంతృప్తి చెందుతాను

వ్యాస ఉవాచ

వాసనాద్వాసుదేవస్య వాసితం భువనత్రయం । సర్వభూతనివాసోఽసి వాసుదేవ నమోఽస్తు తే ॥ 25 ॥ శ్రీవాసుదేవ నమోస్తుత ఓం నమ ఇతి ।

Vyasa said:

My salutations to you Vasudeva, because you who live in all the worlds make these worlds as places where beings live, and also Vasudeva, You live in all beings as their soul. Om Nama salutations to Vasudeva.

వందనము వాసుదేవా, నీవు సర్వ లోకములు వ్యాపించి వాటిని జీవులకు నివాస యోగ్యము చేసి, వాటిలో ఆత్మగా ఉన్నందుకు పునః వందనము

పార్వత్యువాచ

కేనోపాయేన లఘునా విష్ణోర్నామసహస్రకం । పఠ్యతే పండితైర్నిత్యం శ్రోతుమిచ్ఛామ్యహం ప్రభో ॥ 26 ॥ ఈశ్వర ఉవాచ శ్రీరామ రామ రామేతి రమే రామే మనోరమే । సహస్రనామ తత్తుల్యం రామనామ వరాననే ॥ 27 ॥ శ్రీరామ నామ వరానన ఓం నమ ఇతి ।

Parvathi said:

I am desirous to know, Oh Lord, how the scholars of this world will chant without fail these thousand names, by a method that is easy and quick.

నేను ఈ సహస్రనామములు పండితులు సులభముగా చదువు రీతిని తెలిసికో దలిచాను

Hey beautiful one, I play with Rama always, by chanting Rama Rama and Rama. Hey lady with a beautiful face, chanting of the name Rama, is same as the thousand names. Om Nama Rama Nama Rama.

ఓ సుందరీ, నేను రాముని స్మరణము చేయువాడను; రామ నామ స్మరణము చేయుట వలన కలిగే ఫలితము ఈ సహస్రనామాలు చదివే ఫలితమునకు సమానము

బ్రహ్మోవాచ

నమోఽస్త్వనంతాయ సహస్రమూర్తయే సహస్రపాదాక్షిశిరోరుబాహవే । సహస్రనామ్నే పురుషాయ శాశ్వతే సహస్రకోటీ యుగధారిణే నమః ॥ 28 ॥ శ్రీ సహస్రకోటీ యుగధారిణే నమ ఓం నమ ఇతి ।

Brahma said:

Salutations to Thee, Oh lord, Who runs the immeasurable time of thousands of crore yugas, Who has no end, Who has a thousand names, Who has a thousand forms, Who has a thousand feet, Who has a thousand eyes, Who has a thousand heads, Who has a thousand arms, and Who is always there. Om Nama He who runs thousands of crore yugas.

కోట్ల యుగాల కాలమును నడిపించేవాడా, ఆద్యంతములు లేనివాడా, సహస్ర నామములు కలవాడా, అనేక రూపాములలో భాసించేవాడా, అసంఖ్యాకమైన పాదాలు, కన్నులు, శిరస్సులు, కరములు గలవాడా , సదా నిత్యముగా ఉండేవాడా, నీకు నా ప్రణామములు

సంజయ ఉవాచ

యత్ర యోగేశ్వరః కృష్ణో యత్ర పార్థో ధనుర్ధరః । తత్ర శ్రీర్విజయో భూతిర్ధ్రువా నీతిర్మతిర్మమ ॥ 29 ॥

Sanjaya said:

Where Krishna, the king of Yogas, and where the wielder of bow, Arjuna, is there, there will exist all the good, all the the victory, all the fame, and all the justice in this world.

ఎక్కడైతే యోగములకు రాజైన కృష్ణుడు, ధనుర్ధారి అయిన అర్జునుడు ఉంటారో అక్కడ శ్రీ, జయము, కీర్తి, నీతి ఉంటాయి

శ్రీ భగవాన్ ఉవాచ

అనన్యాశ్చింతయంతో మాం యే జనాః పర్యుపాసతే । తేషాం నిత్యాభియుక్తానాం యోగక్షేమం వహామ్యహం। ॥ 30 ॥ Sri Bhagavan said:

I would take care of worries and cares of him who thinks and serves Me without any other thoughts.

నేను నన్ను స్మరించి, పూజించే వారి దుఃఖములు, అవసరాలు తప్పక తీర్చేవాడను

పరిత్రాణాయ సాధూనాం వినాశాయ చ దుష్కృతాం। । ధర్మసంస్థాపనార్థాయ సంభవామి యుగే యుగే ॥ 31 ॥

I save the righteous and destroy the wicked, and establish righteousness in every age.

నేను సజ్జనులను కాపాడి పాపులను శిక్షిస్తాను; ధర్మాన్ని ప్రతి యుగములో సంస్థాపిస్తాను

ఆర్తాః విషణ్ణాః శిథిలాశ్చ భీతాః ఘోరేషు చ వ్యాధిషు వర్తమానాః । సంకీర్త్య నారాయణశబ్దమాత్రం విముక్తదుఃఖాః సుఖినో భవంతి ॥ 32 ॥

If he who is worried, sad, broken, afraid, severely ill, if he who has heard tidings bad, sings Narayana and Narayana, all his cares would be taken care of.

దుఃఖముతో ఎవడైతే ఆందోళన, బాధ, ధృడము కాక ఉండుట, భీతి , వ్యాధి మొదలైన వాటితో ఉంటాడో, అతడు నారాయణ నామము స్మరిస్తే అతని అవసరములు నేను తీరుస్తాను

కాయేన వాచా మనసేంద్రియైర్వా బుద్ధ్యాత్మనా వా ప్రకృతేః స్వభావాత్ । కరోమి యద్యత్సకలం పరస్మై నారాయణాయేతి సమర్పయామి ॥ 33 ॥

Whatever I do either by body, speech, mind or sensory organs, either with my personal knowledge or natural trait, I surrender and submit all to that to supreme divine Narayana.

నేను దేహముతో, వాక్కుతో, మనస్సుతో, ఇంద్రియములతో, నాకు కల్గిన జ్ఞానముతో లేక సహజముగా ఏది చేసినా, దానిని నారాయణునికి సమర్పించెదను

యదక్షర పదభ్రష్టం మాత్రాహీనం తు యద్భవేత్ తథ్సర్వం క్షమ్యతాం దేవ నారాయణ నమోఽస్తు తే ।

విసర్గ బిందు మాత్రాణి పదపాదాక్షరాణి చ న్యూనాని చాతిరిక్తాని క్షమస్వ పురుషోత్తమః ॥

ఇతి శ్రీ మహాభారతే శతసాహస్రికాయాం సంహితాయాం వైయాసిక్యామనుశాసన పర్వాంతర్గత ఆనుశాసనిక పర్వణి, మోక్షధర్మే భీష్మ యుధిష్ఠిర సంవాదే శ్రీ విష్ణోర్దివ్య సహస్రనామ స్తోత్రం నామైకోన పంచ శతాధిక శతతమోధ్యాయః ॥ శ్రీ విష్ణు సహస్రనామ స్తోత్రం సమాప్తం ॥
